Knowledge is Power!
Chiropractors take a holistic approach to health and wellness so I am often asked what are the most important factors of a proactive, wellness oriented lifestyle. Is what you put into your mouth more important than how and how much exercise you get? Does the quality of your sleep or your thought patterns (positive or negative) outweigh everything? It can be very confusing with the mixed signals we get from our devices, our health practitioners, or our friends and family.
I would argue that the factor most important for your long term health is information. The internet, for all its problems, does allow us to access cutting edge ideas from the top thinkers around the world. We need to find a way to find the information that will help us. It’s imperative that you build a health team- both practitioners you visit (Chiropractors, Therapists, Naturopaths, etc) and experts on the web who can distill health trends and make recommendations you can trust. Two people I love and get a lot of my information from are the Bulletproof Executive Dave Asprey and Dr. Joseph Mercola. By subscribing to their sites and podcasts you will be exposed to a lot of pertinent, cutting edge wellness strategies. So then what?
I believe that the most efficient way to make positive wellness changes is with experimentation and assessment. Take a new approach you are interested in (go vegan for a month, or try yoga for a month) and keep track of the changes you experience. By experimenting you will learn what YOUR body needs and likes, and you will also become much better listening to your body’s innate wisdom. Over time you will cultivate habits that support your body and allow you to become the strongest possible version of yourself!
Please respond with any questions you may have and I’ll try to point you in the right direction !!
